COON RAPIDS, Minn. -- There's new developments to report in a hit-and-run that left a young boy seriously injured.

The victim, 9-year-old Amir Taylor, has been upgraded from critical to serious condition and doctors now say he'll likely recover from his injuries.

Meanwhile, the investigation into what happened continues. Police have impounded a black truck that may have been involved in the hit-and-run. Investigators say a man brought the truck to a Minneapolis body shop last week for repairs and it has damage consistant with the accident. However, it's expected to take weeks if not months to get results from the forensic testing process.

Commander Paul Sommer of the Anoka County Sheriff's Office says, "In criminal investigations, having a hunch or having something really sound like it could be the suspect doesn't make them the suspect.  We need conclusive proof and, in this case, the registered owner of the vehicle denies any involvement and denies the vehicle was even driven that day."

Investigators say the vehicle is registered to a man who lives in the general vicinity of the accident which happened near 111th Avenue and Kumquat Street. Authorities have seized a number of items from the registered owner's home.

A fund has been set up to help the family of Amir Taylor with medical costs. Donations can be made at any Wells Fargo bank under the "Amir Taylor Donation Fund."
